Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club
VE Testing Session

The Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club held VE testing January 15, 2000, at at the Central Lakes College. Here are the results:

David Quam, KA2UTT of Bemidji, tested and passed the written portion of the General Class exam.  This is the first step in upgrading from his Technician license.  He is proudly showing his CSCE paperwork.

David worked as a technician on the Nature series aired on PBS television.  That series won an Emmy award for excellence.

Orcena Lyle, KCØGWC of Brainerd, upgraded from General to Advanced class.  Orcy, as she likes to be called, was a student in the fall 1999 ham radio classes put on by Community Education and the Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club.

Can Extra Class be far ahead for her?

Jerry DesChane, WAØCHA of Brainerd, was a happy guy when the test results were in.  He upgraded from Advanced to Extra.

Jerry has been a ham since 1962 and spent the last six weeks studying for the upgrade.

Jerry changed his call to WØXU on February 18, 2000. He got, probably the last 1x2 W call sign available.

The Volunteer Examiner crew for the exam session.  Left to right are R. J. AAØRJ, Fritz WØKO, Paula WØHA, and Mark WØMH.

E-mail note from January 16, 2000: I want to thank all the VE's, Mark, Paula, R.J., and Fritz for making my test session most enjoyable one.  It was done in a very professional and orderly manner making my examination upgrade to Extra Class a success.  Thank you all again......Jerry WAØCHA
