Rotary Club Presentation December 12, 2001 |
Brian Wermager, KØEOU,
gave a well-received presentation on amateur radio at the December 12th
meeting of the Brainerd Lakes Rotary Club. The program was arranged by
Orcena Lyle, WØQT, a member of the Brainerd Lakes Rotary. Brian described
the history of amateur radio and used a display of radios to show how the
size of radios has decreased over the years. He played a tape recording he
had made of a QSO he had a few days earlier with “Paul” who was in
Kostanay, Kazakhstan (formerly part of Russia) and told the group some
things about the political, religious, and geographical aspects of
Kazakhstan, based on several conversations with Paul. Brian now has had
radio contact with all the countries in the world, having recently bagged
North Korea, which previously had been closed to amateur radio
communication. Orcena Lyle, WØQT
Brian is a Past President of the Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club. He served October of 1995 to October of 1997. |
