Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club
June 28, 2001 Meeting

The Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club June meeting was held at the new WJJY/KTCF Radio studios in the Baxter Industrial Park.  It is an $800,000 facility about a half mile south of the Paul Bunyan Center.

The business meeting was conducted in the station's Meeting/Presentation Room.  About 25 were in attendance.  WJJY/KTCF Radio provided the group with coffee and cookies.

The studio has a 150 foot self supporting tower for the station's radar, microwave dishes, and monitor antennas.
The meeting presentation was given by past Club President Mark Persons, WØMH.  He is the Corporate Engineer for Omni Broadcasting which owns WJJY Brainerd, KTCF Crosby, KBUN Bemidji, KBHP Bemidji, KKZY Bemidji, KLLZ Walker, and KIKV Radio in Alexandria, MN.  Omni also owns the new Nisswa, MN station which is under construction this summer.

In this photo, Mark is shown explaining the 950 MHz microwave and audio processing equipment in the Engineering Room.

The Engineering Room is the hub of all facility wiring.  Audio and control punch blocks connect studio wiring to equipment in the Engineering Room.  Conduits, in the floor, route that wiring to the studios.
The group examines wiring going to an audio mixing console in a studio which is under construction.

Our thanks to WJJY/KTCF Radio for making the studios available for the club meeting and facility tour.
