Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club |
Club Meeting October 24, 2002 |
|
The meeting presentation
was given by Past BAARC
President Mark Persons WØMH. He described how antenna
tuners work on HF and VHF antenna systems.
Mark is shown holding a two watt resistor in his right hand. He explained how the antenna should be made and adjusted to match the transmitter much as a dummy load does. He is holding an HF antenna tuner in his left hand. Mark explained why a auto-tuner, on HF, is not always enough to get the right match and that a manual tuner may be used in addition to transfer the maximum amount of power to the antenna from a transmitter. |
