BAARC
members again this year helped with a very successful Walk for March of
Dimes in Brainerd.
The Walk took place on a very lovely sunny Saturday beginning and ending
at Central Lakes College and covering a 10-mile loop in southwest
Brainerd. There were about 150 participants of all ages, from those
in strollers and those with canes. Young and young at heart.
Five hams from the club participated with a portable control station
located at Central Lakes College operated by Ken KAØJSW,
to those in mobiles and on portables from key traffic intersections.
They were: Jon KBØMNM;
Steve, WØTNT;
Skee KBØDCY,
and John WØJGY.
(Jon was also part of the American Legion Color Guard that provided the
backdrop for the Walk's beginning.)
The Walk began at 10 AM and lasted until 12:30 PM after which all enjoyed
hot dogs and treats with the walkers. A big thank you was received
from Vicki the organizer of this year's event for the role BAARC played in
making the walk safe for everyone.
