Bill and Vivian

Past Club Vice President Bill Ingmundson and his wife Vivian

We regret to inform you that Bill Ingmundson, WBØMVE, passed away on Wednesday, December 14th.  Bill was a member of the Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club for many years and served as BAARC Vice President in 1998 and 1999.

Bill had an interest in ham radio since he was 12 year old.  Construction of radios from "junk box" parts kept him busy with the hobby during his teen years.  It also fueled his desire to become a licensed ham.

During WWII he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an aircraft radio technician.  He was also a radio telegrapher and communications officer.  He had experience with the Seversky P-35 , the Curtis P-36 , the Boeing B-29, and just about everything in between.

Bill and Vivian lived in Crosslake, MN for 15 years after retirement and moved to Brainerd in 1997.  His secondary hobby was the repair and restoration of antique radios.  His collection totaled 35.  While a member of the BAARC, he gave a talk on restoring old radio and another talk on what went wrong with the Amelia Earhart flight in the 1930's.

Bill was a licensed ham for about 30 years with the callsign WBØMVE.  His wife, Vivian, is KAØUGT.   Bill and Vivian lived in the Minneapolis area for the past few years.  He will be missed.
