United We Stand

Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club

Saturday, May 26, 2007

(l-r) Curt NØCRM and Mark WØMH were at the Westgate Mall in Brainerd during Non-Profit Day, otherwise known as Community Service Day on Saturday, May 26th.  They were joined by Jim WØIRE and Paula WØHA where the group had a table setup, with the club banner, in the commons area near Herbergers. The crew answered questions and informed the public about Ham Radio and the Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club. The event ran from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

Many ARRL brochures, the BAARC brochure, old QST Magazines, and a PowerPoint presentation, showing BAARC 2006 activities, were shown. It was interesting to note that many mall shoppers were from the Twin Cities and other states.  All in all, it was a fun day and good exposure for the BAARC.

Curt NØCRM was first introduced to the Ham Radio hobby at a similar showing at the East Brainerd Mall some eight years ago.  Since then, Curt has gotten his son Steve KCØYTE interested and active in Ham Radio.  Who knows where it goes from there!

We had a great time getting the story of the club and Ham Radio out to the public.
