Vehicle dependant antenna mast support
or
"How to save $60.00 by dog-sledding-day on a micro-tower."

Think very carefully before substituting parts in the project.  It's purpose is to anchor an antenna mast by reliance on the weight of your own motorized vehicle.  I highly recommend the Cushcraft A270-10S antenna for a minimal wind load, but the mast support could handle a larger antenna if a guy ring and wires were employed. The vehicle is assumed to be a passenger car weighing 1500 pounds or more.

Plywood board, 3/4" or thicker, at least 3 feet long and 3 feet wide.  Do not use regular softwood boards.  Plumbing pipe floor flange, to accept a one inch or greater threaded pipe, corrosion resistant, heavy countersunk head coarse screws or bolts & nuts to attach the flange to the board.

Threaded pipe at least six inches tall to fit inside a 1 & 1/4 inch steel mast.  Double ended pipe coupler if needed to adapt the pipe above to a size which fits in the flange.  Second sized pipe if needed, threaded at both ends, for the floor flange size 1 & 1/4 inch diameter 10 foot steel mast.  Do not substitute aluminum for safety reasons

Simply pre-drill holes the root size of the screws or bolts through the floor flange and into a corner of the board. You do not want the flange in the center of the board, because the mast will be internally supported by a pipe screwed into the floor flange and you will be driving onto the top of the opposite end of the board.  Bring along clamps to attach the antenna to the mast and tape for securing the cable to the mast near the top. Also bring a tall kitchen step stool to make attaching the small Yagi or beam to the top of the pole easy. Cordon off the area around your antenna to prevent accidental mast collisions and the tripping hazard, if possible.
