WWWI Radio

Shown from left to right are Fritz WØKO, Club Vice President Bill WBØMVE, Jim KBØTXT, Sharon KBØSQX, Alan KCØBQP of Iowa City Iowa, Cole KAØMVY of Duluth, Shane KCØANX of Grand Rapids, and Club President Mark WØMH.  The tour was of the transmitter site of WWWI Radio, Baxter, MN.  This site is about five miles south of Brainerd.  The transmitter building houses a 5000 watt AM transmitter for the 1270 KHz facility.  Not shown are three 195 foot towers used to form a directional pattern to the north.

Mark, WØMH is a broadcast engineer.  He conducted the tour showing those attending how a commercial directional transmitter site works.  This was the beginning of the woodtick season in the Brainerd area.  Ken KAØJSW reported picking up at least three woodticks while on the tour.  Our thanks to Ken for braving the wild and taking this photo.
