From: The Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club Event Dates: Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, 2009. The public is invited to a free demonstration of Amateur Radio communications. The event is called “Field Day Expedition.” It is an annual exercise where Ham Radio operators practice emergency operations by communicating with other Radio Amateurs, in this country, and around the world. Amateur radio operators also participate as storm spotters and aid in communications during time of disasters. The Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club will be set up at the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area near Crosby-Ironton. From Ironton, take County Road 30 north (Irene Avenue). Go 1/4 mile to a turnoff to the west. Watch for signs. Look for tents, trailers, and antennas at an overlook of Mahnoman Mine Number Two. The event runs from Noon Saturday until Noon on Sunday. Everyone is invited to stop by and learn about Ham Radio and world-wide radio communications.
