The first group of hams visiting the KLKS studio. The operator is Suzy Brennan (no call sign yet) in red seated at the right in front of the audio mixing console.
Suzy with the second group of hams. Behind Suzy is George Swanson KCØBH. He is very proud because his granddaughter, Karin Swanson, is a weather forecaster. She is heard regularly on KLKS Radio.
The tour included the KLKS transmitter site where two 10,000 watt RF amplifiers combine their outputs to put 17,000 watts into a 3 inch diameter coaxial cable that goes to the transmitting antenna. The antenna has gain so the effective radiated power is 50,000 watts. |
Jim Shubert KCØANQ, BAARC V.P. and Program Chairman. |
Our next meeting will be on July 31st. The exact location has not yet been determined. Stay tuned to his web page or the 8 PM Sunday Night Net on 147.225 MHz to get details on where the meeting will be. |
