He was commissioned in 1955 and attained the rank of Major before his
retirement in 1969. He completed his college studies in 1963-64 while attending
the University of Omaha and earned a BS degree. His last duty assignment was
with the NROTC unit at the University of Minnesota where he served as Assistant
Professor Naval Science and Marine Officer Instructor for 3 years. His

He earned his Real Estate Broker's License in
1971 and worked in the real estate field in the Twin Cities until he moved to

His connection with Ham Radio began when Ken Magloughlin, KAØJSW, invited him to "ride along" for the Mid-Minnesota 150 Sled Dog Races, then the Bicycle Tour of the Lakes event, etc., etc. He obtained his Technician Class license, KCØANQ, in April 1997 following a BAARC sponsored training class. His first radio was a 2-meter mobile loaned to him by Ken. Jim has participated in most of the BAARC sponsored community and public service events and is a Sky Warn Trained Observer. He is currently licenses as a General and his call changed to WØJDS in June of 2003.
Jim's telephone number is 218-543-5041.
