Club Membership Meeting....Thursday, June 29, 2006 |
The meeting was held in Crosslake, MN, at Crosslake Communications. |
Mark WØMH and Roger WØWUG started in the afternoon checking the 147.030 MHz+ Repeater. There is a receive sensitivity problem which will need further investigation. To the left is Roger's Motorola Service Monitor and to the right is Mark's IFR Spectrum Analyzer. |

A talk and tour of
Crosslake Communications were given by Jared
Johnson, Operations Manager at the facility. Jared is retired from the U.S. Air Force where he served in Alaska with a communications unit. Although he is not a Ham, Jared knows what Amateur Radio is about and has seen Hams in action providing emergency communications. Crosslake Communications is owned by the City of Crosslake and provides telephone, television, and the Internet to residents in that area. Their most recent project involves running fiber optic cables to homes and businesses. All of their services are now available on fiber replacing traditional copper cables. Crosslake Communications donates tower space for the BAARC 147.030 MHz+ Repeater antenna as well as housing for the repeater and power to run it. That includes automatic backup generator power when needed. We thank them for their support. |
