Fox Hunt October 19, 2002

A BAARC Fox Hunt was held on Saturday, October 19th, after a club breakfast.  The 146.52 MHz/0.8 watt fox transmitter was hidden near a public access road to the Mississippi River just west of Evergreen Cemetery on the north side of Brainerd.

Past Club President Mark WØMH, was in charge of the hunt.  He placed the transmitter just 10 feet east of the road.

The fox hunters are shown here just behind the fox transmitter, which was chained to a tree.  (l-r in the back row) Terry KIØFW, Jim WAØAXB, and George KCØBH.  (l-r in the front row) Orcy WØQT, Skee KCØDCY, Greg NØLJY, Paula WØHA, and Steve WØTNT.

Everyone is pointing at Paula because she was the first to find the transmitter.

Here is another photo of Paula's PT Cruiser with four-element Yagi receive antenna on a PVC pipe poking through the sun roof.  This antenna was built as a Club project Paula was elated to win.

Paula is now the “Great Grand Ruler of the Universe” at least until the next fox hunt when some other ham may win that title.

The times to find the fox were as follows:

50 minutes:  Paula WØHA
85 minutes:  Jim WAØAXB
88 minutes:  George KCØBH
89 minutes:  Orcy WØQT
90 minutes:  Terry KIØFW
95 minutes:  Greg NVLJY
98 minutes:  Skee KC0DCY
101 minutes:  Steve WØTNT

Temperatures were in the mid 30's and there was little wind.  A fun time was had by all.
