At 8 PM, there was a talk on
packet communications given by Orcena Lyle WØQT. She explained that
packets of digital information have been used for many years for DX
Clusters, APRS, Data for public events, and e-mail. More recently,
Erik Westgard NY9D, created a the Minnesota Emergency Packet Network that
now covers 75% of the population in the state. More details

Orcena said that typical packet
communications requires a VHF radio, a computer, and a TNC (Terminal Node
Controller). She demonstrated sending and receiving packet for the
audience.
