Lyle KØLR
was the speaker of the evening. Lyle described the Handiham system
and its association with Courage Center. There are "radio camps"
in northern Minnesota and California to train disabled people to get
licensed as Hams. For additional information, see
http://handiham.org
and http://courage.org
Lyle also discussed
the origin of the Piconet, which is heard on 3925 KHz USB from 9 to 11
AM Monday through Saturday and 3 to 5 PM Monday through Friday.
Pico Net gets its name from
PICON (public interest, convenience or necessity), which is an acronym
dating back to the Radio Act of 1927. |
