Darrell ABØVP and Fritz WØKO.  Amateur Radio friendship.
Speakers for the evening were from the Crow Wing Power.  (l-r) Rob Moser, Safety Administrator, and Wayne Bentler, Lineman Safety Officer.  Their topic was Electrical Safety.  The pair showed a video and talked for over an hour on the dangers of working around buried and aerial power lines.  Annually, there are 500 electrocutions at home and about 350 at work in this country.  All or most of those deaths could be prevented by using common sense safety precautions.

Electric customers experience, on average, between 4 and 5 hours of power outages each year.  The pair cautioned against connecting portable power generators to home electrical systems unless it is done through approved power transfer switches. The risk of electrocuting a power company line worker is high.

The April 27th BAARC meeting will feature a talk entitled,  "DC to LIGHT, given by John  KØJO.  John is well known for his work at microwave frequencies and is also planning on experimenting at 500 KHz, which is below the lowest Amateur Radio band.  John will talk about the "state of the art" for the extreme edges of the frequencies available to hams.  This should be a good fun-filled session.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.  Hope to see you there.
