The Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club held its sixth Special Event on Saturday November 10th. The theme was Paul Bunyan....famous lumberjack of 100 years ago.
The first operator shift was made up of Ken Magloughlin KAØJSW, Steve Weber, and Cris Weber.

Hazelwood,
and Traci Miles. Steve's wife Sue and daughter Daniela also dropped
by to see what was happening. Most of the time was spent on 10 meters at 28.440 MHz. |

The third shift included Paula Persons WØHA, Curtis Mott NØCRM, Past BAARC President Mark Persons WØMH, Darrell Schneider KCØFYC. Paula made a contact to Australia. There were two contacts to Alaska, one of them to North Pole, Alaska. There were additional contacts with operators in England, Canada, Africa, and Sweden. | |
On the fourth shift were the
husband and wife team of Jim Duit KBØTXT and Sharon Duit KBØSQX.
They operated on 10 and 15 meters and talked with the oldest ham of the day who is Tex, W5BQU, of El Paso,
Texas. Tex is 101 years old and has been hamming for 71 years.

In total, there were 120 contacts from the Club Station. |

Numerous contacts were made by Bob Feuer from the Hungry Horse Ranch. A fun time was had by all. | Bob reports: 33 contacts...S53S into Nova Gorica, Slovenia, the SSK Cavalla (attack submarine) SSK 224 Naval Marine Museum in Texas were among the more interesting. Had a great time! (15-Meters) |
