United We Stand

    The Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club held a regular monthly business meeting on April 25th.

Ken Magloughlin, KAØJSW, became an Honorary Life Member of the Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club at the meeting.  Left to right in the photo are Club Vice President Jim Shubert KCØANQ, Ken KAØJSW, and Club President Al Doree WØRC.

The guest speaker for the evening was Steven Hartman, WDØBOI, who is Director of Emergency Communications and Chairman of the State Disaster Management Group for the American Red Cross.  Mr. Hartman is from Elk River, MN and explained how the Red Cross was established in 1863.  It is not a government agency.  Instead, it is funded by contributions.  The Red Cross provides 50% of the nation's blood supply and handles disaster relief wherever it is needed.  You can reach Steven Hartman via e-mail: stevenh@skypoint.com
