Club Membership Meeting....Thursday, December 15, 2005

Twenty hams gathered for a monthly membership meeting of the BAARC on a snowy winter evening. The speaker was Al WØRC who filled the club in on how to use Echo-Link. Al has worked long and hard on getting the Brainerd 147.13– Repeater connected to Echo-Link. This fascinating mode allows any Internet connected hams to use many repeaters around the world. As a licensed ham, you can hit the * touchtone on your rig to connect to the Internet. Then, dial in the touchtone number of the node you want to connect to. After a few seconds, you should be there. Hit 22 to disconnect. For more information, free software, and how to use it, go to http://www.echolink.org Al suggests you set your 2-meter rig to scan to the 145.13– repeater. You may find “rare DX” as near as the repeater, but it does not qualify for any awards such as DXCC.
The group assembled for a photo.
Skee WØDCY and BAARC President Lyle KØLFV.  Skee just recovered from a broken ankle, which kept him "wheelchair mobile" for five months.
Past President Brian KØEOU discusses DX with Paula WØHA while Vice-Prsident Jim WØYA looks on.  Note the cream puff in Jim's hand.
