Halloween 2006 and the BAARC Goblin Patrol in Crow Wing County

The public safety observation services provided by members of our Club were indeed appreciated, again this year, according to 911 Communications Center Supervisor, Scott Heide. Scott told the BAARC in a very nice thank you letter that he appreciated the Club services in assistance to all of the public safety agencies again this year. He said he was most impressed with how we covered the county from Pequot Lakes and Nisswa on the north with John W3MQD. In Crosby and Ironton, it was Jim WØJDS. To the east, Dave KCØTGT and Curt NØCRM. In Baxter it was Jim WØIRE and Jon KBØMNM. Brainerd coverage was handled by Tom KØHHF and Lyle KØLFV. The photo shows John WØJGY

Net Control was handled by (yours truly, John WØJGY) from the 911 Law Enforcement Center with assistance from Lyle KØLFV. The evening had a fair amount of activity with the 911 operators giving the Hams several “calls for service” to check out. As a matter-of-course it was a quieter than usual Halloween, according to the shift supervisor who said the facts that the 31st fell during the week and that it was the first fairly cold evening (34-degrees F) probably accounted for less activity on the part of the kids. It was a safe evening with only minor vandalism reported and no injuries related to Halloween activity.

Thanks to all the BAARC members who helped with this event as it is always good practice to work directly with the public safety folks and to provide assistance to them with the "extra eyes and ears" in the field.

BAARC Community Event Coordinator.
Thanks to everyone who participated.
