Communications Trailer  Upgrade....Wednesday April 19, 2006

Four BAARC club members participated in repair and maintenance projects on the BAARC Emergency Communications Trailer. (l-r) Present were Al WØRC, Lyle KØLFV, Terry KIØFW, and John WØJGY. They worked from 9:30 AM until 4 PM. New projects and repairs included additional work on the 120 and 240 volt electrical system main electrical service cabinet, installation of 4 sets mounting brackets for external antenna placements, detail work on the exterior of the trailer, changing one of the trailer tires, shelf repair on the interior of the trailer making four new lead-in coaxial cables that would be used at each of the four newly-installed bracket sites, and test-mounting antennas at each of the new brackets. Additionally, we did some trailer clean-up and reorganization of the materials stored in the trailer.

Also, Shirley KCØDCW has made new backrest cushions for the trailer bench seating, and they are now in the trailer. A special thanks also to Al WØRC for programming the two new two-meter radios, and for converting all of the 12-volt wiring connections on all of the club radios, amplifier, power supplies to Power-Pole system connectors. Also a special thanks to John WØJGY for the work done in acquiring the donated materials for the antenna-mounting brackets. The club received donated materials from Holden Electric, and John KØJO.

Other projects anticipated for the near future for the trailer include floor carpeting, acquiring a lap top computer to upgrade our present CPU, and obtaining software for a logging program.
