Special Event on Friday & Saturday, May 11 & 12, 2007 |
Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club members showed up at 9 AM on Friday, May 11th, to setup a Ham station at the Brainerd Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center. The
installation looks great. It includes an American flag atop
the beam near the club trailer.
Equipment used at the Special Event included an Icom 100 watt transceiver into a 3-element 10-20 meter beam and a G5RV. |

and Lyle KØLFV.
The special event is to promote the annual Minnesota fishing opener
weekend. The theme is, “It Must Be The Water.”
The fishing opener the starting weekend when
the famous, great tasting, Walleye fish can be caught in Minnesota.
Some 14 contacts were made on 14.240 MHz from 1:30 to 3 PM. They were from the East Coast and Gulf Coast. The stations included one QRP at 5 watts and a mobile station. |

(l-r) John WØJGY and Al WØRC. Some 111 contacts were made on 20 meters from 9:00 AM to 3 PM on Saturday. They were from the East Coast, Gulf Coast, West Coast, Hawaii, and Alberta Canada. That brought the total to 125 contacts for the two days. Also participating in helping at the event was Brian KØEOU.
