TO ALL:

You guys were all great!  Thank you very much for supporting the Jaycees and all the charities that will benefit from the proceeds of this event.  I believe we did some good with the radio traffic we did handle and we were certainly ready if more needs to communicate had developed.

Jim WØIRE and Curt NØCRM worked two areas where they didn't get relieved for the time of the whole event plus a couple of hours. Thanks for being there for the rest of us. I want to specifically thank Shirley and Al for the extra work they put in, Al with the set-up and tear down and making the public safety planning meeting with me, and Shirley for her support and great job of 'dispatching' with 'lots of help' from those of us 'resting/warming' in the trailer.

Jim WØYA attended his first fishing contest and said it was the first time he's been on ham frequencies higher then 30 MHz. I think he really likes 2-meters now and the clarity of FM.

In all there were 15 of us participating this year and that's the best we've ever had. It allowed us to relieve one another more frequently and with the wind-chill near zero-degrees and all the walking we were doing, it really helped.

Lucky Steve WØTNT, who was given a four-wheeler to ride, when the official he was 'shadowing' (Steve Jobe, Security Chief) decided they both could cover more of the fishing area that way. (Eat your heart out Paula - Steve got his own four-wheeler, not just a ride!)

Everyone else really did a great job too and made mine a whole lot easier. (I think Ken 'JSW would have been proud.) I'm excited for our next public service event which will be the Dog Sled Race, on a new date February 28, 2004.

73's John, WØJGY

Communication services included administrative coordination for the event committee chair-persons and public safety message handling to assist medical aid First Responders, Fire Rescue personnel, and to facilitate ambulance arrival/departure from the shoreline staging area.
