United We Stand

Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club

Club Membership Meeting on Thursday, September 28, 2006

Past president Brian KØEOU enjoys a cookie with Skee WØDCY.

Past BAARC Secretary Shirley KCØDCW and Past BAARC Treasurer Bob KGØZK talk about club leadership.

Bob has finally sold his home on Sylvan Lake and is leaving for his new home in Bluffton, SC. Bob plans to change his callsign to have a “4” in it to reflect his new geographic location, but hopes to keep his “ZK” suffix. We wish him well at his new home and Ham club where he is their treasurer.

ARRL Dakota Division Director Jay Bellows, KØQB, was the featured speaker at the meeting.  His talk was of great interest to everyone.

Jay explained how the FCC changed its procedure for handling Part 15 of the rules. Specifically, BPL (Broadband over Power Lines) Internet access is being allowed in spite of complaints from Hams who are experiencing interference problems from the systems that have already been installed. The ARRL is attempting to get a bill passed on Congress that will require the FCC to reexamine interference caused by BPL.

(l-r) Jim WØJDS, Jim WØIRE, and BAARC Secretary Darrell ABØVP discuss red shirts while Elvis looks on from behind them.
Fritz WØKO and Mark WØMH discuss club history.  Fritz has been a part of the club since the 1960's and Mark is the official Club Historian.
