April 16, 2008: You have a great website! Paul KØJEO in Cottage Grove, MN.

From the Mailbag on Saturday, March 29th: Hi everybody, just a note to let you know we're still alive and that tornados, flooding, and 14 inches of snow have not done us in yet. We still enjoy reading the BAARC'er and checking the Web site every so often. Hearing of all the adventures at the public service events (especially the sled-dog race). It makes us homesick, but we are not sorry enough to move back to Minnesota. 73's to all...Jim KØTXT and Sharon KBØSQX in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

February 4, 2008: Regarding http://brainerdham.org/2008/1-31-08-meeting.html  Very interesting article.  Thanks for keeping the Web site so current.  Paul KBØUSV in Hoyt Lakes, MN.

December 12, 2007:  Hello from Texas--We have a house in Crosby, MN, for which we have placed a bid and our house here in Texas is on the market. As soon as it sells (hopefully around March!) we will be making the permanent move. Antenna party anyone? If our house doesn't sell right away we plan on moving anyway in March or April. Tell everyone hello for us and we wish a very Merry Christmas to all. de Charles W5CCL and Kathy WD5EGN.

November 30, 2007: The Iron Range Net meets Saturdays at 8 AM on 3.919MHz. It is a fellowship net for the hams on the Iron Range, but all other hams are invited to participate. Thanks and 73, Ron WAØWNV in Hoyt Lakes, MN.

September 28, 2007:  The purpose of this communication is to express to BAARC members and more importantly the 50+ year operators, a sense of gratitude and more importantly a level of respect that they both deserve and have earned.  As I sat in the audience and listened to the stories of building radios, erecting towers, and incurring the “RF Burns”, I felt rather humbled by my 11 months of being an Amateur Radio operator. Being this new to the hobby, I have been helped and/or coached by many in and out of the BAARC, and exemplifies the spirit of Ham Radio.  There is a contingent of people out in the Ham Radio world that suggests relaxing the rules has or will “dumb down” radio.  I must say that I have not heard, seen, nor felt that in any way from the BAARC.  Again…gratitude and respect must be given here to all members!  In fact, with the knowledge base that exits in the BAARC, I feel that you will lift up all new operators rather than allowing the “dumb down” of Amateur Radio.  Sincerel and Respectfully,  Steve Mott  KCØYTE

August 26, 2007: Great webpage for the club.  73, Terry KIØFW

July 29, 2007:  Thanks for keeping such a good website. Paul KBØUSV.

December 16, 2006: Hi and holiday greetings from Sun City Hilton Head, SC. Another great day.  Just turned on the air conditioning!  Amateur Radio is a lifelong hobby. That's what we like to tell new hams.  As a real life example, two new members of our Sun City Hilton Head Amateur Radio Club are Bernard K6DC and Gladys W6SIE.  Gladys is a comparative newcomer to ham radio. She got her license in 1952...54 years ago. Bernie was first licensed in 1933...73 years at age 17. Holiday greetings from South Carolina.  73, Bob KG0ZK

November 1, 2006:  Received a call from my son yesterday about noon. He told me he has his new call and asked me to get on the Brainerd 147.225+ Repeater for his first contact. I did so and many other hams chimed in with congrats. They included Steve WØTNT, Fritz WØKO, Dave KCØTGT, and Lyle KØLFV. I'm so proud to be his first. My feet still haven't touched the ground yet. You may say I'm a little proud. Steve's call is KCØYTE.  73's Curt NØCRM  P.S. Should dream up a fancy QSL card for him.
August 29, 2006:  (Regarding the Baxter Triathlon) Thanks for your help.  You guys are so great to work with and make it such a comfort know where everyone is.  You all are very good at what you do.  Thanks once again and next year will be here before you know it!  Brad Pickle, Baxter Triathlon Coordinator.

August 23, 2006:  Great site. Very well done.  73,  Ken K4SVX

July 31, 2006:  Ladies and Gentlemen: Thank You for another great Hamfest. Al, Fritz, and company, you did well. I so want to thank you for the Icom T7H handheld that I won in the drawing. I was so surprised—I really must have had that “deer in the headlights” look! I am obviously very pleased and grateful. I hope that you will be able to host a BAARC Hamfest again next summer. Again, my thanks and a very 73. John Berglund, KØUBA, St. Paul, MN.

July 28, 2006: Your club webpage is very nicely done and is easy to navigate.  Most of all, the information presented gives an excellent view of what seems to be a great club.  73 de Chuck Milton W4MIL Palm Coast, FL.

December 2, 2005:  Thanks again for keeping me on your list of recipients.  My conscience is starting to bother me so I’ll have to sent in some money as I haven’t contributed for a long time.  Your publication is really great.  I hear other clubs you aren’t doing nearly as well as yours.  You have very enthusiastic members.  I just renewed my license --- a month from the deadline.  My wife Helen NØSWF did the same.  So we may just warm up the rig in our car again.  Keep up the great work.  Ole Loing KAØIDX

September 17, 2005: Back home in Wichita Falls, Texas, and doing well. Finally got my trapped dipole up. Hope to hear you on 17-meters some time. Tell everyone hello. Charles W5CCL and Kathy KD5EGN.

August 8, 2005:  I checked out your local Amateur Radio Club web site.  It is very well done with lots of good information.  Looks like a good group of Hams and a very active club.  Mark KB8MNX

July 21, 2005:  Thank you for the 2-meter handheld transceiver I won at the 2005 Brainerd Area Hamfest. It was my first Hamfest and was a lot of fun. By the next Hamfest, I should have my license. Sincerely, Emily Hart (grand-daughter of WØKO, Fritz Bertelt and KØMAH, Judy Bertelt)

July 18, 2005:  I attend the Brainerd Area Hamfest and ended up winning the drawing for the Yaesu FT-2100. A very big thank-you to all of the BAARC members and the organizers of the event. I did purchase a few items as well and was happy and pleasantly greeted by the members and sellers. All in all was a very good first Hamfest experience for me. Thank you all again! 73"s John Cook KCØUTE

July 17, 2005:  My friend and I had a good time at the Hamfest. The prices were right, the people were all friendly as usual. Hope to see you next year. ..Jim Le Blanc Hackensack, MN.

March 2, 2005:  New with the club is Charlie Lutes KCØRYK. Charlie is from Mankato, MN, but has a cabin near Menahga. He plans to use the repeaters this summer.  Charlie says we have a "Spiffy” web site, too!

February 17, 2005:  Hello from Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.  Jim and I are having a good time, even if the weather has been a little rainy. The temperatures have been great….in the 70's several days. Two members of the village club, Don N5UQ and Ken K5ID came over and helped us put up Jim's G5RV antenna so he is on HF again. The time is going to fast. 73's to all Jim KØTXT and Sharon KBØSQX. The Hot Springs Village ham club website is at: http://www.cox-internet.com/w5hsv/index.html

December 29, 2004:  Hello, I am on your mailing list and I received this month’s BAARC from your Web site.  You have done a fantastic job on your website.  Congratulations!!! I find the site easy to maneuver, it contains very useful information and gives readers a chance to see what your club is doing. I particularly congratulate you on your foresight of disaster plans using ham radio  in case telephone line are disrupted or destroyed.  Ole J. Loing KAØIDX

December 16, 2004:  Happy Holidays from Gene KØTIW and Katy KBØDKD Bradfield in Florida.  Relay provided by Fritz WØKO.

November 30, 2004:  May I compliment you and your club as well as the web page designer on a great web page with lots of info.  The info is very well presented and it's very easy to manipulate through the web page.  Great Job!!!

I was a member of your club for years. I live in Princeton and we have a cabin near east of Emily.  I used to have a nice antenna system up there, but since doing major remodeling the antenna was totally destroyed.  Have fond memories of members from whom I have lost contact; especially George Swanson who was and probably still is a very faithful member.

Keep up the good work.  Ole & Helen Loing KAØIDX & NØSWF

October 23, 2004:   Just a short note to say hello to everyone. We've had some days in the low 90's and not much rain in Texas. Say hello to everyone for us. Is it June first yet? Charles W5CCL and Kathy KD5EGN Lane

October 7, 2004:  Hello Mark ...Just a quick note to say thanks for another great edition of the monthly BAARCer newsletter.   Look forward to seeing you folks soon.   73's   Lyle  KØLFV

June 25, 2004:  Had a fun time locating the two geocaches, which were hidden by Terry KIØFW.  One was east of the Mississippi River and one west of the river in Brainerd.  I was with my husband Mark WØMH and friend Jim Barry WØIRE.  Jim found both caches first with us close behind.  The weather was a little cool, but no rain.  We left some trinkets and took some to leave on future geocache hunts.  Paula Persons WØHA.

March 5, 2004:  The new 443.925 MHz repeater worked to about Rice, MN, while I was on a trip to St. Cloud.  That is 50 miles away.  Mark Persons WØMH

March 3, 2004:  The new 443.925 MHz repeater is working great as we expected.  I was able to "work" Al Doree WØRC until I was about 5 miles South of Long Prairie on hwy 71 late yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.  I did stop south of Randall and switch the roof mounted 1/4 wave 440 antenna with the 5db gain 440 antenna.  It helped cure the choppy flutters, as expected.  That is also the antenna I was using when I finally could not raise the repeater south of Long Prairie.  Pretty darn good considering between Brainerd and Long Prairie is very hilly country.  Thought you'd be curious to know.  Thanks for your help yesterday.  Roger Williams WØWUG

February 2, 2004:  Hi Mark,  Got a new handheld this weekend, and am pleased to be sending in my renewal form for Brainerd Area Amateur Radio Club membership.  Nice job on the website, very informative and loved the .pdf application form.... very helpful  Thanks much,  Chris Bremmer  NØSHR, Brainerd, MN.

November 7, 2003:   I have been very busy and doing well in Klamath Falls, Oregon. about 30 miles north of the California border.  Our cancer center is much busier than Brainerd and we had our Open House last weekend.  It was a smashing success.  They have been shooting TV commercials with me in it.  Hope you are doing well.  Please say "Hi" to everybody in the BAARC. Zoon KA1ZNU

October 17, 2003:  Thanks for providing a website for practicing code!  I am studying for my General ticket and haven't experimented with code since my high school days some 40 years ago.  I am beginning to see that the hobby of ham radio has a really huge brotherhood throughout the world.  Hope to be on the air one of these days.  73s Mike Koffler

August 20, 2003:  I linked to your code practice page to the Red River Radio Amateurs page. There has been an upsurge of interest in code. You have such a great page to practice and learn from. 73 NØDJJ   RRRA Fargo, ND  http://www.rrra.org

June 20, 2003:  I took another look at your web page and was again impressed...very nice...keep up the good work.  Bill KGØDX in Alexandria, MN.

April 17, 2003:  Thanks for listing my HF antenna on the BAARC website. The ad sold the antenna in less than a week. That was even before it could be printed in the next BAARCer newsletter. Thanks again, 73 Dan Selinger AAØNK.

April 10, 2003:  Great Website!  I always enjoy seeing old friends. I was first licensed in Fergus Falls after an earlier introduction to ham radio from the Brainerd High School Ham Club via Fritz, then KØMAH, now WØKO.  Thanks.  Kelly Davis KD7XY, formerly WBØVDQ.

October 29, 2002:  Nice work!  Wonderful BAARC web site.  Cole Grace  KAØMVY.

October 28, 2002:  Great club website...also the club is so nicely outfitted.  The trailer is quite a deal and wow at the club station - sheesh.... I haven't seen many clubs that have the permanent facilities necessary to have a tower and such a complete HF station.  Very Cool.... Dave WD8RFS

October 26, 2002:  Hi, just wanted to let you know that I have a 6 Meter repeater about 35 miles southwest of Duluth in Mahtowa, MN.  The repeater is now linked into the Lake Superior Amateur Coalition system. The antenna is going to be moved to the Southwest leg of the tower.  My hope is that base stations in the Brainerd area will be able to reach it.  The frequency is 53.170 MHz with a 1 MHz minus offset with a tone frequency of 103.5Hz. See:  http://www.qsl.net/n0elb/lsac/lsac.html  We have a 6 meter net on Wednesdays at 8 PM.  Patrick Wilmers KBØQYC

October 12, 2002:  It was fun working Mark and Bob with qroup during your special event.  Looks like you guys are hands on Hams.  I am going work on our yuppies out here to get a club trailer.  Enjoyed the web site and loved that picture of boats on the river.  best 73's Live from California Ray KD6WD

July 4, 2002:  After the brief visit to the BAARC Field Day site, I went back there a couple of days later with Kathie to explore the Cuyuna Recreation Area a little more.  We were really impressed, and when my granddaughter and her boyfriend were here last weekend we went back again with the kayaks and canoe to paddle around the lakes. Thanks to BAARC and to Steve,WØTNT for securing the site and introducing me to this local recreational treasure!  Lyle KØLR.

June 3, 2002:  Thanks Mark for the coverage and the photo of Vi and I with the award from the club on the BAARC Web Page.  Don't you ever sleep?  Didn't expect it would be on the web page yet. I was checking for other info and there it was already!  You take the web page seriously.  Like a newspaper or even better like the news on a radio station.  Thanks for all the kudos!

Thanks Mark, for all of your work for the club, as Past President, the Web Page Creation,  and all of your other work for BAARC.  I am pleased to count you as a friend.  Have a Great Day! John Myers W3MQD.

June 1, 2002:  Like old cheese, the BAARC web page gets better and better with time. With such a large group as the BAARC, I know it is difficult to please some of the people some of the time. But you have made great strides in pleasing all of the people, all of the time!  Keep up the good work of keeping the membership of a great club well informed. George KCØBH

May 11, 2002:  Super job (as usual) on the web site. When ever I have questions about events/dates, etc., I can always find it on the Club web site. Terry May KIØFW.

March 23, 2002:  The BAARC website has been, and continues to be, the best amateur site that I have seen. The information is timely, clearly labeled, can be located quickly, and is presented in a very attractive format. It keeps those of us who are out of town "in the loop."  Thanks for your extraordinary efforts. One more link in the chain that makes BAARC such an active club.  Most commercial sites should strive for the information-providing abilities of the BAARC site.   Keep up the good work--even if it does stretch late into the evening.  Alan AAØAS.

March 17, 2002: My compliments to you for developing and maintaining one of the most interesting and informative amateur radio club websites around. I especially enjoy the tips, photos, links to other ham sites, and just keeping track of BAARC activities. The information on the site is always current and there is usually something new and exciting to explore.  A job well done!  Thanks   -   Steve KCØLVZ

November 29, 1999:  Thanks for putting the Morse code practice on the BAARC web site. I see that someone asked for it (Nov. 27th) and you responded quickly. Currently Session I is on the web site. Can I assume that Session 2, 3,4...x will soon follow?
Thanks, Orcy Lyle (Member of fall 1999 BAARC ham class).  Webmaster:  You bet.

November 27, 1999:  I am more than impressed with your Ham Club web site.  I congratulate the Web Designer on a job that puts other web sights to shame.  The personal touch gives the feeling of almost attending one of your meetings.  Have you given any though to putting code practice sessions on the Net?  Lee Snook  W1DN
